From Nought to Website in 10 Weeks

Over the next ten weeks you will be brought on a fast paced journey of learning. Were at the beginning you are expected to have no knowledge in the web design field and by the end have built your very own functioning website.

Website design is a multilayerd process that anyone can have a stab at. Not everyone will excel in all the fields. Generally most people are attracted to a particular area of it. From graphic design, to programming, to marketing and even the project management process.

So what can we cover in ten weeks?

  • What is a Website? - different kinds of websites, the scripting languages, the look and feel, e-commerce
  • Tracking its progress - SEO Search Engine Optimisation, Google Analytics, Marketing & Promotion
  • Planning is Paramount - Who are the audience? What is the purpose? Developing your idea. Paper planning is perfect.
  • Collecting the content - architecture, linking, text & images, theme and design, sketching a draft
  • Dreamweaver - website management, get to know the layout, building tables, colours, inserting elements
  • Fireworks - image optimisation, active images (PNG), buttons and website layouts, montages, etc
  • The Build Begins - collecting all the content together, creating a consistent feel,
  • CSS & Javascripting - introduction in to advanced features in Dreamweaver
  • Teaching your website to talk - Meta Tagging, Alt Tagging, Heading Tags, Page Titles, etc
  • Put online - FTPing, Google Analytics, Website Optimiser
  • Reviewing - feedback, monitoring, updating, webmaster, furture developments.
